M. Spiropulu  is the Shang-Yi Ch'en Professor of Physics at Caltech. She received her PhD in physics from Harvard and was an Enrico Fermi Fellow at the University of Chicago before moving to CERN. Her group at Caltech played a key role in the discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012 and has been leading the design, R&D and construction for an ambitious ultra- precision timing detector system for the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider. Since 2013, she has initiated a program on AI/ML for the acceleration of discovery in elementary particle physics with exchanges and applications in other science domains.  She has forged collaborations with quantum science and technology researchers, targeting the embedding of science problems in current and future quantum computing, networking, and communication testbeds. She has been working with the Department Of Energy and partnering government agencies on the National Quantum Initiative and the Quantum Internet Blueprint

Since June 2022 she has been co-chairing the NASEM study called EPP-2024 to set a vision for the field of elementary particle physics and intersections in the next decades.
